Hi my name is Jo and my passion is to inspire and offer support to small and medium businesses in creating stepping stones to greater success in terms of marketing, strategy, process evaluation and project management. I love to work with people & businesses who believe what I believe – that every business has the opportunity for greater success and the path should be fun and exciting, creating drive from director level down.
In 2010, and after the 6th or 7th round of redundancy programme within the corporate business I worked in, I made a life changing decision to leave ‘corporate life’ and find a vocation which allowed me to spend more time with my children and create a more balanced lifestyle for my family and myself.
I retrained as a baby & pre-school swim teacher and put my 20 years of corporate experience in to the marketing and PR of this small business, suddenly realising my love for smaller businesses versus the gruelling demands and impersonal environment of the larger companies I’d had experience of.
Now I’m not saying that creating a successful small/medium business does not take effort, time, blood, sweat and tears however for me the rewards are so much more; watching these businesses lay stable foundations and start their steps to greater, sustainable growth, based on true goals and strategies set by the business for the business.
My consulting business didn’t start straight away however. It has taken me some time to nurture my experience and mould it in to something that I think offers a true point of difference; offering my years of experience in a number of fields and business areas as a bespoke solution to those small or medium sizes business that are looking to define their short/long term goals and vision, build a bespoke strategic marketing plan to match or just wanting ‘an outsider’s view’.
I offer workshops within my local area as well as on a 1-2-1 basis for those businesses needing a more direct, focused result.
I take the business back to basics, looking at those all important foundations to ensure they are sound and build a bespoke platform of strategy, marketing and engagement with my clients.
My other passion is supporting and mentoring women who have reached management levels within the corporate environment following time out of the business due to maternity leave or illness.
Having had both my children during my time in corporate roles I understand how disconcerting it can be returning to a role you have not had command of for a period of months when your confidence is already at a low and you are fighting emotionally with leaving your child or that you’re fully fit again for the role.
This supporting role can aid on a 1-2-1 basis either directly with a client or via a corporate ‘wellbeing programme’ to support the female employees and offer a distinct advantage to an employer looking to consider their female employee retention.
